The Irish language and the Great Potato Famine?

In some places like Donegal it was never stopped - the Gaeltacht was set up to teach irish langauge (gaelic) to keep the culture alive it is well attended and covers dance and music as well - The English tried to crack down on the language but were never wholly successful and it never died.
